Baby shot and killed on front porch ID'd

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A child who was shot and killed while sitting on the front porch of a home in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood with her mother has been identified.

A deputy coroner says 16-month-old Ne'riah Miller died of a single gunshot wound to the torso. The girl's mother, whose name has not yet been released, also was shot. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The shootings happened just before 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 at a home in the 100 block of S. 37th Street.

Police say they do not have any suspects in the case, and they haven't confirmed the number of shooters.
