Jim Brown to be honored by Muhammad Ali awards

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards will honor Hall of Fame NFL running back Jim Brown with a lifetime achievement award for his efforts to promote civil rights and stand against injustice, according to a press release from the Ali Center.

The awards, to take place September 27 at the Marriott downtown, will also honor actress Susan Sarandon, entrepreneur Mick Ebeling, hip-hop artist Common and six young people from around the world for various projects.

Ali said, "These young men and women show how one person can make a positive difference in the lives of other individuals and communities around the world. I recognize that they are champions in their own right."

Matt Lauer will host the ceremony.
