LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two days after a 16-month-old girl was killed, her mother remains in the hospital, and police still have no suspects in the shooting.

Neriah "NeNe" Miller was gunned down on the front porch of her home in Shawnee neighborhood Wednesday. Her mother, Sherrie Miller, is at University of Louisville Hospital with injuries that officials say are not life-threatening.

On Thursday, near the scene of the shooting on S. 37th street, Mayor Greg Fischer spoke to a crowd of friends and neighbors, calling for an end to the violence. "The biggest crime of all, the biggest sin of all, would be for this to happen and our community not to come together and say to these thugs on the street, 'That's enough,'" Fischer said, his voice rising.

Just a few feet away, detectives worked to gather evidence, hoping to find some clues that might lead to the arrest of killer or killers.

Still without any suspects, police have been asking for anyone with information to come forward, saying that there is little difference between the person who pulled the trigger and the person who remains silent. "They're both cowards," Lt. Todd Kessinger, commander of the LMPD Homicide Unit, said.
