2 charged in Shelbyville shooting

SHELBYVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A father and son have been arrested and charged with a shooting that left a third man wounded.

Shelbyville police say the shooting happened after an argument between the men in the 100 block of Martin Luther King St. on Sept. 1. During the argument, the victim was shot and fled from the scene.

Police say the suspects, John Alexander Dixie, 43, and John M. Dixie, 66, both of Pleasureville, KY, chased the wounded man. After he was able to get away, the victim collapsed and someone called 911. 

Police said the Dixies, who are not related to the victim, fled to Henry County. They were brought back to Shelby County by Kentucky State Police.

The men have been booked into the Shelby County Detention Center. Each is being held on a charge of attempted murder. It is not known when they will be arraigned.
