LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The University of Louisville School of Nursing is asking for nominations for a new honor, the Florence Nightingale Awards in Nursing.
Nursing School Dean Marcia Hern says since it's the school's 40th anniversary year, officials there want to recognize exceptional professionals.
To nominate a registered nurse who works in Kentucky or southern Indiana, submit a 300-word essay describing the nurse's impact on someone, improvement in health outcomes, improving the profession of nursing or inspiring others to consider the profession.
Nominations are due by Monday and can be made by visiting http://www.uoflalumni.org/nightingale or by emailing the essay to Karen.Rose@louisville.edu or mailing it to U of L School of Nursing, 555 S. Floyd St., Louisville, KY 40292, Attention: Karen Rose.
The awards carry a $1,000 award and a commemorative plaque.
