LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - A Kentucky lawmaker is pushing to allow home-schooled students to participate in middle and high school athletics.
Republican State Representative Stan Lee pre-filed a bill that would allow students in non-public schools that don't offer a sport and home-schooled students to participate in the activity at a public school.
The public school would be one the student would ordinarily be assigned to.
Kentucky High School Athletic Association Commissioner Julian Tacket says the bill would "fundamentally alter high school athletics in the state."
Under the legislation the students would have to comply with all academic and physical standards set by the public school district.
