UofL alums up for grant to help African schools

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The African country of Kenya might be thousands of miles away, but thanks to two young women in Louisville, students are getting a better education right now.

Lauren Smith and Roya Headley started the organization Pink Elephant "to enhance the quality of education, opportunity for success, and positive self-development for children around the world."

Now they are up for a major grant and need help from the public. Kind Snacks donates $10,000 every month to one cause through their Kind Causes program.

If they receive the grant, Pink Elephant plans to use the money to buy tablet computers for use in Kenyan schools.
