Eater cuts local Louisville coverage from the menu

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The popular Eater family of food websites has cut Louisville from its diet.

Despite the Derby City's rapidly rising status as a hot culinary town, coverage of the Louisville restaurant scene will be rolled up into Eater's national site.

Over the weekend, Eater parent Vox Media rolled out a new publishing platform, cleaner layout and easier-to-consume content, among other changes. No telling why that meant some local sites were left off the menu, but Eater Louisville editor Steve Hacker said the company's overall mission won't be changing anytime soon.

"Eater will still obsess over the lives of restaurants and chefs," he wrote Friday. "It will be more beautiful, functional, and informative, with new powers and a new spirit of discovery to align with its ambitions to change the world of food journalism."

Hacker also wrote that just like the rest of us, he'll keep wondering whether Lynn Winter will ever reopen her Paradise Cafe.
