LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A new music festival has a strong message for the Louisville community: girls rock!
The Outskirts Music Festival will take place October 10 through 12 at The New Vintage at 2126 Preston Street. Organizer Natalie Felker describes it as "female-centered," meaning the bands involved are made up entirely of women or are fronted by a girl. They hope to shatter stereotypes of what "women's music" is and build the community in the process.
On top of performances by many bands, there will also be youth workshops led by experienced female artists for girls ages 10 through 18 with any level of musical experience.
Tickets for the festival are sold per day and are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

The Setlist is a collaboration between WFPK Music Director Kyle Meredith and WAVE 3 News Producer Laurel Mallory with editing by Zach Vickers. It airs every Sunday morning on WAVE 3 News Weekend Sunrise, which is produced by Ali Hammond.
