Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced Tuesday that he and his wife will donate $25 million to help fight Ebola.
Multiple media outlets reported the news just before 11 a.m.
Zuckerberg announced on his Facebook page that "we need to get Ebola under control in the near term so that it doesn't spread further ... that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or polio."
The donation will go to the Center for Disease Control Foundation.
"Grants like this directly help the frontline responders in their heroic work," Zuckerberg wrote. "These people are on the ground setting up care centers, training local staff, identifying Ebola cases and much more."
