Benefit planned for Ky. soldier critically injured in crash

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Josh Lucas' loved ones are planning several fund-raisers to help with hospital bills following an accident that left the soldier from Breckinridge County in critical condition.

Lucas was on his motorcycle when he collided with a car Oct. 19. It happened in El Paso, Texas, where he's been stationed at Fort Bliss.

Family friend Mendy Hayes said Lucas has served in the Army since 2010 and has done tours in Afghanistan and Jordan. His family and friends have arranged a multitude of fund-raisers, including:

+ A benefit and auction at the McQuady Fire Department on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m.

+ A gofundme page for those interested in making donations

+ A Facebook page that anyone can like and follow for updates on Lucas' progress

"I would love to get his story out to as many people as we can so that we can help his family with medical and travel expenses," Hayes wrote in an email to WAVE3.com on Friday.
