LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - UofL freshman Shaqquan Aaron did not play in #8 UofL's exhibition game against Barry University last Saturday, and tonight we found out why.
"Shaqquan is not eligible right now," Cards head coach Rick Pitino told WAVE 3 Sports. "He hasn't been cleared by the NCAA to play. Eligibility issues, so we don't want to deal with that right now until the NCAA rules on that. So we can't say what it is, or what it's not, we're waiting for the NCAA. We thought we would have had an answer from the NCAA three weeks ago, and we still don't have an answer from them. We're waiting to go through all the paperwork and once that's cleared where he stands."
Aaron, a 6'7" 170 pound forward, averaged 19.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists for Rainer Beach High School in Seattle, Washington. He was ranked as high as the #26 recruit in the class.
The Cards second exhibition game is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Bellarmine University at the KFC YUM! Center. The game will be televised live on WAVE 3 News.
