LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Our WAVE 3 News "Spread the Gloves" campaign wrapped up Friday with two final donations right here at WAVE 3 News.
Over the past month we worked with Kleinert and Kutz Hand Care Centers to collect winter clothing at Sam Swope dealerships and Zaxby's locations.
A number of other businesses like RE/Max pitched in to gather 6,000 pieces of clothing.
On the last day some of those donations went to Kentucky Refugee Ministries, whose clients sometimes need a little extra help dealing with Kentucky winters.
Regan Layman, with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, said, "It's cold outside. We're all cold, and we're used to this. Kentucky's up and down weird weather. Whereas, most of the climates in the winter are like 70 degrees."
Americana Community Center also picked up several hundred hats and gloves to hand out at its upcoming Winterfest.
