LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino said one of his top guards should put his phone away and relax.
Chris Jones apparently enjoys his mobile device more than the rest of his teammates, Pitino said at his weekly media availability Thursday afternoon.
Pitino didn't disclose whether Jones is on a 4, a 5 or one of the newer iPhone 6 models, or if the senior from Memphis is more of an Android guy, but his coach wants Jones to ignore what is written and tweeted about him on social media.
"He's on it every second of the day," Pitino said. "He doesn't sleep ... I guarantee if he loses it for two weeks, he'll play better."
Jones had 10 points and five rebounds in 33 minutes in Louisville's 64-55 defeat of visiting No. 14 Ohio State on Tuesday night. He's averaging 11.8 points per game for the 6-0 Cardinals, with a team-high 3.3 assists.
Pitino also said he thought there was a pack of really good teams in which he'd include his own, but that Kentucky and Duke stood taller than those squads. He called them both "overpowering" teams.
No. 5 Louisville takes on FIU at the KFC Yum! Center on Friday night.
