Report finds 7K JCPS students are homeless

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A big disparity in housing equality in Metro Louisville is one of the findings this year by the Metro Housing Coalition.

In a report released Thursday, the MHC found 71 percent of white households are occupied by the owner compared to 37.5 percent of black households.

The report also found nearly 7,000 students in the Jefferson County Public School system are homeless. While that number may seem high, the report notes foreclosures in Jefferson County have dropped nearly 8 percent since 2012, meaning more families are staying in their homes.
