Boy with autism has simple holiday request, and you can help!

A woman posted her holiday wish list on Facebook and, well, the social community has responded in a big way.

Kay Thomas' wish list pretty much consists of one thing -- her 12-year-old son's wish list. William Thomas has autism -- he cannot speak -- and his request this Christmas is a simple one:

"This year he asked for something new!," Kay Thomas wrote in her Nov. 25 Facebook post. "I almost fell over when he added it to the box (his Christmas wish list box) and the new item is........... MAIL! Mail. He LOVES getting mail."

William has an older sister Victoria, but the rest of the Thomas family is spread out in northern Canada and the southern United States. So mail is very important to the Thomases.

"He loves his mail so much that his weekly treat is to visit the Post Office so he can get (a priority mailbox) and when we get home he wants me to put mail in it (usually just one of his BluRays) and he gets so happy to open it," Kay Thomas said.

The Facebook page ( opened with a bang last month.

"We got about 1,400 likes in a few hours," Kay Thomas told Seattle TV station KING. As of 11 a.m. Monday, more than 8,400 people had liked it.

Even the reigning NFL Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks sent William some mail over the weekend.
