2 struck by vehicle on Dixie Highway

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two people were injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Louisville Metro Police Department Spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said the driver of a Ford Focus hit an 18-year-old man who was walking with his 6-year-old neighbor near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Pendleton Road at about 3:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police the two were attempting the cross and had the right away at the time of the accident.

The 18-year-old was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and the 6-year-old was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital. Smiley said their injuries were non-life threatening.

The driver of the Focus, an 18-year-old woman, did stop. Police said no alcohol or drugs were suspected in the crash and no charges were filed.
