PITTSBURGH, PA (WAVE) - Skipping tipping? That's what one restaurant is doing.
Owners of Bar Marco in Pittsburgh say the staff can no longer accept tips. Instead, then team will get a base salary, health care benefits and shares in the company.
"That will really take the place and provide some stability," said Kevin Cox, the owner. "As opposed to the current situation where a lot of the servers are making less than $3 an hour and have to very much rely on tips just to earn a living wage."
Workers will get a base salary of $35,000 starting in April. Menu prices are also expected to jump at this time.
