Downtown restaurant closes, will reopen under new management

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A downtown restaurant closed Monday to allow a new management team to take over.

Atlantic No. 5, located at 605 West Main Street near Slugger Field, was started by Michael Trager-Kusman, the owner of Rye on Market.

Trager-Kusman said he made he wants to focus on Rye.

“It was a great run at Atlantic No. 5 and we were happy to be part of such a magnificent project and watch a building come to life around us. However, we're looking forward to future projects and happy to see someone new take it over,” he said in a release.

Chefs Mary Wheatley and Rebecca Johnson will now manage Atlantic No. 5.

The two met while attending Sullivan University in 1997 and plan to further develop an artisan-type menu, grab-and-go items and other unique food offerings at Atlantic No. 5.

The restaurant is set to reopen on March 2.
