LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More than a dozen animals rescued from a hoarding situation in northern Kentucky arrived in Louisville on Friday for a second chance.

In January, 54 mixed breed dogs living among trash and other waste were seized from an Ohio County home.

The dogs' only source of water was dirty rainwater that collected in broken buckets.

Seventeen of those dogs were brought to the Kentucky Humane Society in Louisville. Eight others had previously been taken Lexington.

The dogs' owner cooperated with law enforcement and does not face any charges.

The dogs will need foster care for socialization before they are ready for adoption.
