LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man who gained notoriety in several Kentucky cities for faking a handicap to panhandle money is facing a new charge of rape.
Gary Thompson, 32, was already in jail on other charges in Meade County. The new allegations originate in Frankfort. According to police Thompson met a woman in February 2014 and went to her apartment. The woman claims that's where he raped her.
Thompson claims the act was consensual, but a grand jury has indicted him on a charge of third-degree rape.
Thompson, whose arrest record is 32 pages long and spans at least ten Kentucky counties, has been the subject of stories by WAVE 3 News reporter John Boel.
