LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - University of Kentucky students who are in an emergency will be able to provide their exact location to campus police through a smartphone application that's available for free.
The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1MmC8Mk ) says the LiveSafe app also allows students to anonymously report suspicious behavior.
The Student Government Association and university police say the app is available to download from iTunes or Google Play. Search for "LiveSafe" and download the option with the blue shield.
The Student Government Association and UK's central administration are sharing the $25,000 annual fee for the app.
Association President Jake Ingram says students' main concern that he heard last year was off-campus safety. Ingram says the app will enable everyone to be responsible for their personal safety and the community's safety.
