In a release, UofL head coach Rick Pitino was quoted as saying, “Anton is one of the finest young men that I have had the privilege of coaching the past two years. He is a bright, articulate, hard-working young man that we will miss very much. I agree with his decision and have given him his release to attend any university he desires. He wants to play major minutes and I believe he has a bright future ahead of him. We thank him for his dedication to our team.”

Gill said he was looking for a fresh start and wanted to try something new, but he was thankful to his teammates and coaches.

During the 2014-2015 season Gill averaged 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds for the Cards.
