RADCLIFF, KY (WAVE) - A proper burial for was held for a World War I and two World War II veterans Wednesday.

The Attorney General's office removed the remains of the three soldiers from the abandoned Eastern Cemetery in 2001 after their grave sites had been vandalized.

Thanks to the Missing in America Project, the veterans were laid to rest for the final time at the Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff.

Dale Lemond, with the Missing in America Project, said, “They are veterans, they were prepared to serve our country, they were prepared to give their life if necessary, but they were not prepared to come home and be forgotten.”

All three veterans were buried with full military honors.
