LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A 9-year-old boy who formed a special bond with former University of Kentucky basketball player Willie Cauley-Stein during his battle with cancer has died.
According to family members, Blake Hundley, who was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 6 years old, passed away from the disease Friday afternoon.
Blake bled blue. Knowing his love of UK basketball, a family friend surprised him with a visit from Cauley-Stein while he was undergoing out-patient chemo. The two became fast friends.
In March, Blake's dream of seeing UK play in the NCAA Tournament was came true thanks to donations made to a Go Fund Me account.
Friday night a post on the Prayers for Blake Facebook page read in part, "He went so peacefully & left us with his smile! He is at peace, no more pain, & most of all no more cancer!!"
