LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - We Pass the Cash every week to help someone through a financial storm, but most of all to lend a little support when a battle just gets a little too hard to bear alone.

This week our Pass the Cash started with a nomination submitted on wave3.com from Krissey Carter who was concerned about her friend Teresa.

“Teresa's just been very sick lately,” she said.

Very sick and unable to work. Teresa is a dog groomer. She has been Krissey's go-to groomer for six years for her pup Gracey Love, but over the past few months Teresa has been fighting to save her eyesight.

“She has diabetes in her eyes. She's had multiple eye surgeries and even problems in her stomach. She's been off work several, several, months,” said Krissey.

No work means no money.

“I have no idea how she's making it,” Krissey said. “I just know she's been off work a long time and I know she has to be struggling.”

It was time for us to get to work. As we arrived to do our good deed Teresa did not see us. She invited Krissey and customer in only to be surprised as we all get inside.

“Oh my goodness,” Teresa said.

Overwhelmed, she held out her hand as Krissey passed her $300 in cash.

“Oh my goodness. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you Dawne. Thank you,” she said.

With her little cheerleaders, dogs named Brickey and Bernard, Teresa shared her battle.

“I'm a diabetic and have diabetic retinopathy and I have been having surgery on my eyes,” she said.

Teresa said she could not see out of her right eye at all.

“It's been hard because I miss working so much,” Teresa said.

Even Teresa little baby Brickey seemed to be missing the work she can no longer do.

Just minutes away loomed another doctors appointment and another bill.

Teresa said, “I didn't know what to do.”

“I hope you can use that,” Krissey said to her about the cash.

“Very much. Very much,” said Teresa.
