LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - Cookies raise lots of money for the Girl Scouts and require a lot of trust. However, Lexington police say one former Girl Scout leader couldn't keep her hand out of the money jar.
Lexington NBC affiliate WLEX said Ashley Pike, 29, of Lexington, was expected to put the proceeds from selling 95 case of Girl Scout cookies into a specific bank account.
The Scouts finance department noticed several withdrawals and said the account was empty.
Officers say Pike admitted to taking more than $4,000, but claims she intended to repay it.
