LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Timmy Richards was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 10th inning to give Cal State Fullerton a 3-2 win over Louisville in the Louisville super regional on Saturday.
Louisville reliever Zack Burdi hit Richards with his first pitch.
Dalton Blaser twice had two-out RBI singles for the Titans (38-22), who took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series against the Cardinals (46-17), the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Louisville's runs came on a pair of solo homers - Brendan McKay's in the sixth and Mike White's in the ninth, which forced extra innings.
Tyler Peitzmeier (4-3) picked up the win in relief for Fullerton. The senior left-hander gave up one earned run and four hits. He walked one and struck out one in three innings.
Lincoln Henzman (5-2) took the loss for the Cardinals. The freshman right-hander gave up one earned run and five hits in 2 1-3 innings.
He came out after giving up a walk and back-to-back singles in the top of the 10th.
