Drew Doyle of St. Patrick's Grade School is only 13 years old, which makes him the youngest golfer to compete in the Kentucky State Amateur Championship. "I think its kind of rewarding for me just because it's the biggest tournament I have ever played in," said Drew Doyle. Drew's Grandfather Moe Demling exclaimed, "I thought it was a mistake when I heard that, it couldn't be because I remember back when we played there were guys who were 18, 19, 20 years old you know who were just trying to get in." Drew comes from a long line of successful golfers in his family including his older brother Brendon, a freshman at IU, who's also playing in the State AM. "I haven't had the chance to play with him that much lately just because I have been away at school but from what I can tell he's been hitting the ball a lot further and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a good week this week," commented Brendon Doyle. Both Drew and Brendon owe a lot of their success to their Grandfather Moe Demling, who's been teaching them since day one. "Oh I think this is great experience for Drew just to be around all these golfers just to see what it's all about, you know the State Amateur is a big tournament, there's a lot of great names on that trophy," said Grandfather Moe.
