LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Master P feels it is important to use his celebrity status to raise awareness about violence in communities across the country. And that's exactly what he does on a regular basis here in Louisville.

For years, he has taken part in various events in the city, using his voice as an influence to those who engage in senseless acts.

This weekend, Master P hosted a film screening and panel discussion at the Muhammad Ali Center and will participate in this year's kickoff of the Dirt Bowl.

His son, Romeo Miller, stars in the movie Brotherly Love, which challenges young people to face the consequences of their actions.

At the Dirt Bowl, Master P will publicly recognize several Louisville children who were recently victims of gun violence.

Master P stopped by WAVE 3's studios Saturday morning to speak on Weekend Sunrise about his work to help stop violence in Louisville's neighborhoods.

"They think that picking up a gun and killing is the answer but it's not," said Master P. "I feel like, if we start believing in each other and doing the right thing, we can save some of these kids' lives."
