LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man was arrested for running down Johnsontown Road in his underwear and cutting a police officer on Saturday, police said.

Police arrived on the scene and said they observed James Reed, 43, running around in only his underwear, yelling and screaming. Officers told Reed to stop, but he continued running, according to a police report.

Officers blocked Reed's path with a police vehicle when he ran around the vehicle in a continued effort to escape capture. Reed momentarily stopped as an officer approached him before Reed ran away again, according to the report.

Police continued to pursue Reed before eventually catching up to him. An officer tried to grab Reed but he broke free from the officer's grip. Reed then turned around and took a "fighting stance," according to the report.

An officer used a stun gun on Reed before Reed allegedly cut the officer's left leg with a box cutter. Reed then threw the box cutter into a grassy field.

Reed then got up and tried to run away again before the officer used his stun gun again. Officers took him into custody shortly after.

Reed was charged with one count of assault, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 10.
