LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The silliness has started and the presidential election is 15 months away.
Name calling, tearing down people, maneuvering and positioning, but not leading. Talking out of both sides of your mouth, changing your stance on issues to suit audiences, and demonizing those who different opinions. Character, civility and statesmanship are in short supply.
It appears we are heading there in the Commonwealth in the Kentucky Governor's race as well. It is shameful that politicians resort to these tactics to get elected.
We need courageous leadership to confront the huge economic and social issues of our time. We need servant leaders who understand they are here to serve us and our country, not themselves.
We are the greatest nation in the world but won't stay that way unless we are led by the greatest leaders in the world. We should demand specifics in the dialogue and engage fully in the process by making our concerns known.
Who will unite us and confront head on the challenges that continue to divide us? That should be the main litmus test in choosing a candidate.
