Louisville, KY (WAVE) - The University of Louisville tipped off it's summer trip to Puerto Rico with an 89-81 loss on Tuesday night. Drexel transfer Damion Lee led the Cards with 36 points. Rick Pitino coached Puerto Rico, Cards assistant Ralph Willard coached UofL.
UofL led 38-35 at the half, but was outscored 31-21 in the third quarter.
Lee hit 11 of his 18 shots, including 5-10 from three. Cleveland State transfer Trey Lewis finished with 13 points. Chinanu Onuaku also scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Puerto Rico also won the opener, their Junior National team beat UofL 94-88. The Cards were led by St. John's transfer Jay Henderson. He scored 16 points.
Freshman Deng Adel added 14, Jaylen Johnson had 12 and Ray Spalding and David Levitch each scored 10.
The Cards will play another doubleheader on Wednesday. Game one tips off at 5:30 p.m.
