SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - Jason Day is the leader through three rounds of the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, while Jordan Spieth (speeth) is in contention for his third major title of the year.
Day fired a 6-under 66 that included four birdies and an eagle in a six-hole stretch, beginning with the par-3 ninth hole. He also had a double-bogey on 15 and a pair of bogeys on the front nine before climbing to 15-under for the tournament, two strokes ahead of Spieth.
Day got the first of his nine top-10 major finishes at Whistling Straits five years ago, and will try to wrap up his first major on the same course Sunday. Hot on his heels is Spieth, the reigning Masters and U.S. Open champion.
Spieth birdied six of his final eight holes for a 7-under 65 and a 13-under total, two strokes off the lead.
Brandon Grace is at minus-12 following a 64, one shot off the record for a major tournament. Grace played bogey-free golf to move into a tie for third with Justin Rose.
Matt Jones began the round leading the tournament by two strokes over Day before carding a 1-over 73. Jones had a miserable end to his round, getting bogeys on 15 and 16 before a double-bogey on 17.
Jones is tied for sixth with Tony Finau at 10-under, five shots off the lead and one behind Martin Kaymer (KY'-mur).
