LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An initiative to save residents money has two major services in Louisville coming together.

Tuesday officials from Louisville Metro Sewer District and Louisville Water Company were updated on the One Water project.

The project brings the two organizations together by consolidating jobs and sharing resources with a goal of saving more than $1 million in 2015.

MSD Executive Director Greg Heitzman said, "So that $1 million are actually hard dollars that actually benefit the rate payers in both Louisville Water Company and Louisville MSD."

Additional savings are also expected to come out of the project.

Phase one of One Water began in February 2014 and will continue through 2016. Phase two is expected to start in the fall of this year.
