Neighbor helps disabled Marine replace stolen statue

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - What happens when a retired Marine has his cherished eagle statue stolen from his yard?

In WAVE Country, neighbors pitch in to help.

That's what Delsie Williams did when she heard about the theft.

"I have a soft spot for veterans, our seniors, children and pets," she told WAVE 3 News. "When my brother told me the story (about the stolen statue), I just knew I  had to help him."

Her friend, Susan Jordan, described the lengths to which Williams went to help a stranger.

"Delsie ... headed up a group of people and was able to get enough donations where she found an eagle better than the one he had," Jordan said. "If you throw her to the wolves, she'll come back leading them and feeding them."
