Floyd County Police officers Frank Denzinger and Joel White were dispatched to a report of a dispute between a woman and her 15-year-old son in June 2007.
As the officers were talking to the mother and the boy's aunt, he started shooting at them from an upstairs window with an M-1 rifle.
Denzinger pushed the two women to safety as he went down from a gunshot to the back.
Officer White also was critically injured from gunshot wounds.
