LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky faces some serious challenges the next four years and a new governor will be elected in one month to lead the effort to deal with them.
Economic issues are front and center.
The Commonwealth will need to start picking up a portion of the costs of the hundreds of thousands of new enrollments in Medicaid, and address in a meaningful way the roughly 14 billion in unfunded pension liabilities.
Median household income is down across Kentucky, and in parts of the Commonwealth, four of every 10 children live in poverty.
Access to quality in-home and in-community services for Kentucky seniors is a growing issue.
We expect to deal with many substantive issues in the gubernatorial debate we will be producing, televising, and streaming live from Centre College from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and sharing with several other television and radio stations throughout Kentucky and in bordering states.
We look forward to hearing ideas from the candidates on how to make our region a better place and improve in the areas that hinder our growth.
We encourage you to watch, listen, and learn.
We also encourage you to vote!
