Man pleads not guilty in girlfriend's shooting death

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man police say admitted to killing his girlfriend made his first court appearance Thursday.

Carlos Stone, 38 pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and tampering with evidence in connection to the shooting death of his girlfriend Annoqunette Starr, 41.

Lt. Todd Kessinger, commander of the LMPD homicide unit, said 4th Division officers were at the White Castle at 7th and Algonquin Parkway at 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 29 when Stone flagged them down and said he had killed his girlfriend.

Officers went to an apartment in the 2800 block of Rodman Street where they found Starr, who had died from multiple gunshot wounds. Kessinger said officers also found a 10-year-girl, the niece of Starr, in the apartment. The girl told police she knew their had been an argument, but was not aware of what had happened to her aunt. 

Stone is being held on a $250,000 bond. He is expected back in court later in October.
