LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville program designed to help local youth earn their education while gaining work experience scored a major federal grant.
Congressman John Yarmuth and other city leaders announced Monday that YouthBuild Louisville will receive a $1.1 million grant from the Department of Labor.
The grant will help develop workforce, academic and occupational skills for 70 local teens over 2 and a half years.
"With grant money scarce, the YouthBuild program was highly competitive with only 72 programs in the entire nation receiving awards," Yarmuth said during Monday's announcement.
Youthbuild Louisville was among the programs that received the highest level of funding available.
