LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Changes are coming for those who travel on Interstate 65 South out of southern Indiana.

Starting Thursday morning, the two south bound lanes from Brown's Station Way to the Kennedy Bridge will shift to a new, temporary position. This means the two southbound and the two northbound lanes will use the newly constructed lanes of I-65 North.

Ohio River Bridges Project spokeswoman Mindy Peterson said drivers need to be prepared.

"Especially the first few days if you are on (Interstate) 65 south in southern Indiana, know that your commute is going to be and look a little different,” she said. “We're not taking away anything from you, you're not losing lanes."

The shift will happen overnight Wednesday and be in place for Thursday morning's commute.

The traffic change will give crews room to build the new lanes of I-65 South that will eventually connect to the revamped Kennedy Bridge.
