LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Have you forgotten about an old bank account?
Or maybe a utility company never got your forwarding address to return a deposit?
Whatever the case may be, the Kentucky Treasury says it has taken custody of millions of dollars in property that is presumed lost or abandoned.
And Treasurer Todd Hollenbach wants to return it to its rightful owners.
"Most of the properties are in the form of cash," he said in a statement recently. "From old insurance policies to stocks and bonds to leftover bank accounts. There are also more than 20,000 unclaimed items stored in the Treasury vault including a Joe DiMaggio autographed baseball, some silver bullion, jewelry and gold coins."
