LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Traffic on a section of Bardstown Road was solely foot-powered on Sunday as CycLOUvia returned to the Highlands.

CycLOUvia is an open streets program that promotes healthy lifestyles and alternative transportation. Motor vehicle traffic was blocked off for a 3-mile stretch from the intersection of Bardstown Road/Baxter Avenue to the Douglass Loop.

The event also allows bikers and hikers to check out some of the local shops and businesses along the road that may get passed by drivers.

"It's way different without having the cars there," said Mathias Kolehmainen, who was biking with his son, Cooper. "It's super relaxing, I would say. No one's going very fast."

"It's really fun," Cooper added.

Food trucks, live music and street events, including yoga, were also set up alongside the street for travelers.

This was the fourth year for the event, which started back in 2012.
