LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - We could all use a change of narrative from the University of Louisville. Lost in the scandalous headlines are others that are not salacious, but worthy of a salute.
Potential Olympian and University of Louisville swimmer Kelsi Worrell will join several Olympic gold medalists on the United States roster of the Duel in the Pool meet in December. Worrell earned the Atlantic Coast Conference women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year award while winning two NCAA swim titles earlier this year and setting the American record in the 100 fly swim. She's also a three time Pan America Games medalist.
Three graduates of Louisville's J.B. Speed School of Engineering – Alex Frommeyer, Marianne Barnes, and Jeremiah Chapman - were named to Forbes Magazine's "30 under 30" list of innovators this year.
Ten UofL students were named 2015 Fulbright Scholarship recipients, raising the number of Fulbright scholars from Louisville to 89 in the past dozen years! For nine straight semesters, all Cardinals' student athletes combined for a GPA above a 3.0.
It is always good to keep some perspective while swirling negative narratives abound.
