LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The sound of music will continue to fill the halls of multiple schools in Jefferson County.

Forty-four new instruments were donated to students at Jacob Elementary, Western High School, Doss High School and the Phoenix School of Discovery thanks to generous donations from Louisville Public Media, the Robert and Clarita Whitney Fund and PNC Wealth Management.

Louisville Public Media Director Daniel Gilliam said, "We are donating 44 additional brand new instruments to JCPS to fulfill this urgent need and to allow everyone who wants to play in orchestra and band to do so."

The instruments are valued at more than $17,000.

In 2015 alone Louisville Public Media has donated more than 100 instruments to JCPS students.
