Louisville, KY (WAVE) - The University of Louisville confirmed to WAVE 3 News that Will Gardner has asked for and been granted his release. He is expected to transfer to another school for his final season of eligibility.
Gardner started 7 games for the Cards in 2014, throwing for 1,669 yards and 12 touchdowns. He missed the final three games after suffering a knee injury at Boston College on November 8.
Gardner competed for the starting job when camp opened in August, but did not take a snap this season. Provided he graduates from UofL, he could be eligible immediately at another school.
The Douglas, Georgia, native redshirted at UofL in 2012 and was Teddy Bridgewater's backup in 2013, completing 8 of his 12 passes for two touchdowns in six appearances.
