LWC to build water pipeline to Shelbyville

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The governing board for the Louisville Water Company has approved a plan to provide Louisville's drinking water to the Shelbyville Municipal Water and Sewer Commission.

Under the agreement, Louisville Water will install up to eight miles of water main along Interstate 64 from near the Jefferson/Shelby County line to near Highway 55 in Shelby County.

Once completed, Louisville Water could supply up to seven million gallons of water daily.  

The project will cost an estimated $13.5 million. Louisville Water will fund the work through water purchases from Shelbyville Water.
