Door-to-door effort to catch mail-carrier shooter

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The United States Postal Service in Louisville had one of the most important deliveries to make Thursday.

Postal inspectors went door-to-door with fliers offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot a mail carrier Wednesday morning.

"We want to make sure the importance of our job and the importance of finding the individuals that did that, so that's the reason for the reward," Louisville's U.S. Postal Inspector, Adel Valdez said.

Members of the USPS walked along Dearborn Avenue on Thursday talking to residents in an effort to obtain more information about Wednesday's shooting.

Police wouldn't confirm if the carrier, who has not been identified, was still in the car when the shooting happened, though bullet holes could be seen on the vehicle window.

WAVE 3 News spoke to one neighbor who heard the commotion. Several others told WAVE 3 News the mail carrier is a friendly person who's run that route for a while.

Police are now searching for any clues.

Anyone with information on Wednesday morning's incident is asked to call 877-876-2455.

There are no suspects yet, but police are looking for a white sedan that was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
