LOUISVILLE. KY (WAVE) - A new initiative in the fight against heroin was announced Thursday.
Seven County Services partnered with Hazelden Publishing, a part of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, to incorporate a 12-step program with medications used to fight drug addiction.
Kentucky has the third highest rate of overdose deaths in the nation, with Jefferson County having the highest number of deaths in the state.
Scott Hesseltine, with Seven County Services, said, "My goal, which I'm sure is shared by you, is to fight this epidemic, so we don't lose any more lives."
Currently, Seven Counties is in Bullitt County training community members how to use Naloxone, an overdose reversing drug. They will also hand out kits containing Naloxone.
