Kuric scores 9 points in 1st game back after brain surgery

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kyle Kuric played in his first professional basketball game in four and a half months Sunday.

The former University of Louisville men's basketball standout, who underwent brain surgery and two follow-up procedures late last year, scored nine points in 11 minutes as Valencia beat Kuric's Gran Canaria squad 84-68 in Las Palmas, Spain. Here is video of Kuric's return to action

Kuric was 3 for 5 from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, while also grabbing one rebound.

Kuric played in Gran Canaria's first three games of the season, scoring 25 points in the Oct. 10 season-opener. The 6-foot-4 swingman had 12 points in the third game of the season Oct. 25 before experiencing severe headaches. He had surgery to remove a brain tumor Nov. 5 and two follow-up procedures after that. 

Kuric, his wife and twins returned to Spain and rejoined his team in late December. He returned to action Sunday.

Kuric is averaging 11.3 points and three rebounds in four games this season.  

He is shooting 61.5 percent from the field, including 40 percent (6 for 15) from 3-point range, and 100 percent (11 for 11) from the free throw line.
